Problem Statement

Traditional beat selling websites charge high comissions on sales / upfront membership costs. Beatl lets producers sell rights to their beats using Zora edition NFTs. Artists can view a producers beat store page and listen to previews / tagged versions of the beats. They can purchase a lease or exclusive rights contract for an instrumental by purchasing the edition NFTs. Owners of these NFTs can download the full quality wav file which is otherwise encrypted via Lit protocol.

Solution

When a producer sells a beat, they first upload a preview file and an encrypted (via Lit) full quality wav file to ipfs. They then deploy a zora Edition for that beat with a fixed sale price. The Edition contains metadata like the URI of the encrypted instrumental and terms of the contract. Buyers can purchase/mint individual license NFTs for a price specified by the producer by calling the Edition contract. As owners of a license contract NFT, they are able to unencrypt and download the full quality wav file of the instrumental via Lit protocol.
