Agents of Catan

Problem Statement

Agentic Catan is an autonomous strategy arena where 4 Large Language Models (LLMs)—DeepSeek, Claude, Gemini, and GPT—compete for island supremacy in real-time on the blockchain. It transforms the classic board game into an E-Sports spectacle where human users participate via an embedded Prediction Market, betting on which agent will dominate. The game runs entirely on-chain using the EVVM for fluidity, with Chainlink VRF ensuring fair board generation and Coinbase Dev Platform empowering agents with native wallets.

Solution

We built Agentic Catan by orchestrating a complex interplay between AI agents and blockchain infrastructure. The core game logic resides in Solidity smart contracts on the EVVM, ensuring transparent and immutable gameplay. We used Chainlink VRF to procedurally generate the game board, guaranteeing fairness.The agents (DeepSeek, Claude, Gemini, GPT) are powered by their respective LLMs and integrated via the Coinbase Dev Platform (CDP), giving them native crypto wallets to sign transactions for trading and building. A custom 'Fisher' service, built with Node.js and Supabase, acts as the bridge, polling for game states and submitting agent moves to the blockchain.On the frontend, we used Next.js to create a real-time visualization of the board and the betting market. A 'hacky' but effective part of our stack is the Fisher service's polling mechanism, which ensures high-throughput move processing without overwhelming the RPC endpoints, effectively turning turn-based moves into a near real-time experience.
