Problem Statement

Pomodoki is a Chrome extension that transforms your focus sessions into a fun, engaging, and rewarding experience by combining the Pomodoro technique, gamification, and blockchain technology (Flow).Designed as both a productivity tool and a mini-game, Pomodoki features an animated Tamagotchi-style pet, staking mechanics, and session validation to help users stay focused and motivated.

Solution

We built Pomodoki using Next.js, packaged as a Chrome extension with a fun onboarding experience and Flow blockchain integration. Users stake FLOW tokens before starting a Pomodoro session, and if they stay focused, they can redeem them at the end of the session.A key feature is our session validation: if users visit any blacklisted distraction sites (like Instagram, YouTube, or TikTok), the session auto-fails and their stake is lost to a community pool using a Cadence smart contract on Flow.We used Chrome content scripts to monitor active tabs in real-time—this was our "hacky" solution to detect focus loss without needing heavy permissions. The result is a playful yet high-stakes productivity tool.
